This is a spoken guide to the Trait-Led Support page at APIS Clinic. You do not need a diagnosis to get support. Many people recognise ADHD or autistic traits, feel overwhelmed or exhausted, or have been told it is “just stress”, but are not sure a full assessment is the right next step.
Trait-Led Support starts with your pattern, not a label. What is Trait-Led Support? Support without a label. A support pathway for people who recognise traits, patterns or day-to-day difficulties with attention, overwhelm, emotional regulation, sensory load, energy or organisation, with or without a formal diagnosis.
Who it is for. People who are managing, but at a cost. People unsure whether they meet a diagnostic threshold.
People who want practical help first, and the option of a full assessment later. You may recognise patterns rather than a diagnosis. Focus and attention that come and go.
Overwhelm and mental load. Emotional regulation. Planning and organisation (executive function).
Sensory sensitivity or sensory load. Fatigue, sleep and recovery (brain fog). Masking, and the effort of appearing fine.
A previous explanation that never fully fitted. These patterns may point towards ADHD, autism, AuDHD, mental health difficulties, physical health factors, or a combination of these. You do not need to know which before contacting us.
How Trait-Led Support works. The same calm, predictable structure as our assessment pathways, without needing a diagnosis first. Step 1.
Screening call & information. Tell us about your pattern and what you are hoping for. Step 2.
Questionnaires & objective tests. Where helpful, to understand attention, energy and functioning. Step 3.
Support conversation and conceptualisation. We map your pattern with you, including strengths and context. Step 4.
Feedback and plan. A practical, personalised support plan. Step 5.
Ongoing support or assessment. Continue with support, or move to ADHD, autism or AuDHD assessment at any point. What support looks like.
Support is practical, personalised and reviewed with you. It may include:. Psychoeducation and understanding your pattern.
Practical strategies for work, study, home and relationships. Cognitive training, including subsidised Propel ADHD access for eligible patients. ILF neurofeedback where suitable.
Sleep, routine and energy support. The option to move to ADHD, autism or AuDHD assessment at any point. Trait-Led Support is not a diagnostic assessment and does not replace medication review, therapy or urgent mental health care.
Your care team. You will be supported by clinicians experienced in ADHD, autism, AuDHD and mental health. We take time to understand your story, explain our thinking clearly, and build recommendations with you.
That is the end of this guide. The full text is on this page, and you can book an appointment or send an enquiry from here whenever you are ready.
